The same cannot be said for Return to House on Haunted Hill, a direct-to-video sequel that came and went so quietly in 2007 that it's quite likely many people who enjoyed the original haven't seen it, and may not even be aware it exists. It's not a very deep movie, but it is fun, sporting a cast full of recognizable faces, some witty dialogue exchanges, dark and gory imagery, a menacing villain in Jeffrey Combs ( Star Trek) as a ghostly Dr. Like several of Dark Castle's films, House on Haunted Hill has gone on to be a bit of a cult favorite, being fondly remembered by those who caught it at the time, and earning some more fans on home video. ![]() It did decently at the box office, opening at #1 in the U.S, but as usual for Dark Castle's output, was a critical punching bag. 1999's House on Haunted Hill, itself a remake of the 1959 William Castle horror film starring most iconic horror movie actor Vincent Price, was far from Dark Castle Entertainment's biggest hit, although it was their first release. Return to House on Haunted Hill may not be the most famous horror sequel, but its video release does boast Blu-Ray's most ambitious extra feature. ![]()
